WWOAF is Building Resilience in Birmingham, The Magic City
In Birmingham, “The Magic City,” community spirit is its greatest strength. The Wild West Outdoor Adventure Foundation (WWOAF) is launching in the Greater Birmingham Area to channel that spirit. Our mission is to provide low-to-no-cost emergency and wilderness training, empowering individuals with the skills to save a life, explore the outdoors, and build a new career. To do this, we need your help.
Teach Life-Saving Skills in the Magic City
WWOAF provides essential emergency training, from basic First Aid to advanced response courses. We are currently seeking Birmingham-area instructors with valid certifications (EMT, Paramedic, First Aid/CPR Instructor) to help us teach these life-saving skills to our community.
Explore Our Wilderness Training Programs
With beautiful natural resources like Oak Mountain and the Sipsey Wilderness just a drive away, our wilderness training is essential for Alabama’s outdoor community. We offer courses from basic survival to advanced Wilderness First Responder (WFR), built for hikers, boaters, and aspiring guides. We are actively seeking local non-profits and community groups in Birmingham to partner with to host these empowering outdoor courses.
Organize Supply & Gear Drives in Birmingham & Jefferson County
Our first step is gathering resources to power our training. We are looking for community leaders to organize supply drives for essential medical and outdoor recreation gear (like backpacks and hiking shoes). These donated items directly offset costs for our students and ensure our volunteer instructors have the tools they need to teach. If you are a natural organizer, we need your help.
Join Our Volunteer Team in Birmingham
We are looking for dedicated, capable people to join our founding team. If you’re ready to make a difference, we want to hear from you.
